Day 23: A book I've wanted to read for a long time but haven't...
Taming the Forest King by Claudia J. Edwards
This book is nearly as old as I am, published in 1986. I have wanted to read it for a few years now, but it has been impossible to find. Any library, any bookstore, any thrift store I've been into - I've looked for this book and have come up empty. I can't even find an illegal e-book version through my numerous shady sources. When I joined Goodreads, I added this book immediately because I wanted a reminder that I needed to keep an eye out. And then I started following Wendy Darling and found her review of Taming the Forest King. The first line of her review: "Not many books start out with the heroine getting shot in the chest with a flying arrow."
That sealed it. I need this book. Unfortunately, people selling used paperback copies seem to know that they've got a somewhat rare book and want more than I can justify paying for it. I can't afford to buy books lately, I have to pay my bills so I can keep the internet and download porn. PRIORITIES, PEOPLE.
Edit: Well, spank my ass and call me Sally, I found an online version from Open Library. Why haven't I seen this website before? I guess I know what I'm reading next!
Double edit: Just finished it earlier - suuuper disappointed.
