I tried. I really did. And when it got tough, I read some more reviews and was quickly convinced that this was not for me. It was recommended to me because of my unnatural affection for Jean Johnson's Theirs Not to Reason Why series. But I can't figure out why anyone favorably compared these two series. Ia is warm and does everything for her love of people and the future. She fucks up and then works doubly hard to fix things. Honor comes across as a robotic and heartless Mary Sue. The story drowns in military maneuvers and mathematical figures I can't even begin to wrap my brain around.

If you like space military, this might be your thing. It is definitely not mine.
